"Self Mastery begins with Self Understanding!"

We hear so much these days about 'Self Mastery'. How can we be masters of ourselves if we don't have a clear understanding of ourselves first? Whether you're struggling with Life through depression, some form of addiction, anxiety or despair, you can find balance in Life without becoming a guru, or giving up who you are.

"There is no pain in change, only in the resistance to change."

Meditation is not about quieting our thoughts, it's about quieting ourselves so we hear our thoughts.

Life Can Be Different!

By learning to live every moment, every encounter through core universal principles “Life Will Change.”
Week One - Become Hopeful instead of hopeless.
Week Two - Learn to Surrender without giving up.
Week Three - Find Acceptance, of self, of others, of a new way of life.

Throughout our lives, we have heard at some point, “you need to be Honest, have some Patience, Acceptance, have Hope!” But, for many of us, we were never taught how. Being told, “you should be more Open-minded.” Does not give us more Open-mindedness.

It is not enough to read the Principles. The Principles are meant to be active, carried, shared. Principles are meant to be Lived.

What is shared here is but a continuous Journey as we learn to apply these Principles to our daily lives. With each new day, each new situation we will find new ways of applying and living by these principles. We Hope to encourage each other through our Sharing and Caring. At A Journey in Principles, our goal is to inspire a community that shares together, (through comments, forums, and eventually live meetings) experience strength and hope in pursuing a life of authenticity, balance and unity. A community of individuals who shares our differences to encourage strength through diversity. And to influence change in the world through encouraging change in each other.

Hey there, my name is Paul David.

I am a recovering addict/alcoholic with over a decade clean & sober. In that time I have managed to regain my career. I married my best friend and confidant (and sometimes my mortal enemy) 😉 and raise a beautiful (sometimes challenging) family. None of which I would have ever thought possible. I have been an active member of 12 step fellowships for over to 30yrs. (11 of which was trying to prove the programs wrong!) Since I have been back in recovery, I have been honored to speak on several occasions. Mostly on specific topics of my experience with the 12 Steps, 12 Traditions. And my understanding of the application of Spiritual Principles.

I have spent well over two decades, practicing and studying different forms and styles of meditation. Using this experience, I began working on a personal series of meditations based directly on my understanding of Spiritual Principles and the 12 Steps & 12 Traditions of Recovery.

At A Journey in Principles we believe in;

  • Starting each day with a smile and ending each day with NO Regrets!
  • Being consistently comfortable in our own skins.
  • Living Life authentically, being true to each other by being true to ourselves.
  • Living a Life that is no longer obsessed with ’Finding one’s purpose.’
  • Simply knowing that we have a place and purpose and that is enough.
  • Finding Unity with the World, without uniformity.
  • Having a Life driven by core, universal, Spiritual Principles.
